This holiday home in Portarlington is the perfect low maintenance garden the clients were after, complete with automated irrigation system to keep the plants healthy when the owners aren't in town.
The slope of this site was very challenging and enormous volcanic boulders were used to make use of as much space in the rear yard as the narrow block and five meter easement would allow.
Native shrubs surround the main area in the rear yard, which consists of gravel infilled pavers, around three feature garden beds. In these garden beds are tough grassy plants, surrounding a 700mm diameter white sphere which is not just a feature, but also a light!
The view at night of the lights of Melbourne over the bay in the background and the spheres lighting the foreground is spectacular.
